Box Developer Platform

Custom applications built on Box APIs. Automated pipelines, structured AI outputs, bespoke workflows engineered to specification.

Custom Tools

One layer is built for non-technical users: configurable, accessible, standardized. The other is built for builders: tools to build custom applications for unique use-cases not integrated into the web app.

What each layer looks like.

Workflow Automations | Development Pivot

Hypothesis:
Web App was holding us back.

Started in the web app. The web app layer isn't designed for bespoke, pipeline-based document automation at this level of specificity. Real ceiling.
Moved to the Developer Platform. Already included in subscription. Purpose-built for exactly this. Two workflows went from zero to production in a few weeks.

Roadmap

Two growth tracks.

Products — Operational Automation
Near term
Three workflows running. Ops no longer catalogs files or waits on a vendor for deposition summaries. The overseas med chron vendor becomes a choice, not a dependency.
Longer
fpamed's forensic vocabulary, admissibility logic, and clinical judgment — could be deeply encoded in your own custom software. No vendor sells it.
Services — People & Experts
Near term
At least several progressive experts using Box AI agents & tools actively in their web app workflow. The infrastructure is already there — what's needed is an internal champion.
Longer
FPA's collective expertise — available as an interactive AI layer to every expert on the team. Case research, report drafting, document review — not outsourced, not ad hoc. Part of how the firm works.

What's Next

Sooner. And Later...

Near term
Alias custom app to box.fpamed.com. (3 minute website domain update.)
Run both live workflows through real cases. Gather feedback, iterate on output quality.
Begin medical chronology validation sprint — before building, confirm what the source material looks like and what the output needs to be.
Settle on Box Consulting's role going forward: validate this architecture, contribute to building out approriate Web App tools, or focus on med chron?
Mid / Longer term
Both tracks will eventually need internal ownership — someone who holds this as a practice, not a project.
The pace of change in AI isn't slowing. The organizations best positioned in 6-18 months will be those that embrace risk-managed agility both in terms of innovation and culture.
